How we got started

THE WIG COMPANY opened its doors over 30 years ago in North Hollywood at the corner of Laurel Canyon and Sylvan near the Lamplighter restaurant. Owner Julie Kim is the second generation in her family to run the business, as she learned her wig-making skills from her mother, Helen, who had worked with hair all her life. Over the years, THE WIG COMPANY has garnered a large base of loyal customers – many of whom started coming to the store as children while accompanying their mothers.

The store relocated 7 years ago to the current Studio City location on Ventura Blvd., a half block east of Coldwater Canyon. At THE WIG COMPANY, we are proud to continue the tradition of offering one of the largest selections of the trendiest wigs and hairpieces at reasonable prices. We pay detailed attention to each customer and also offer customized sizing, cutting and shaping services because we understand that choosing the right look and fit is a very important personal experience.

We have also participated in many major motion pictures, have worked with a number of celebrities over the years and even had an episode of "Desperate Housewives" filmed at our current location.
